Our CSR policy

We have set ourselves strong ambitions based on the 3 pillars of sustainable development: people, planet, and prosperity.

Storengy is in line with the ENGIE Group’s CSR policy and mainspring, which is to act to accelerate the energy transition to a carbon-neutral economy through more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions. In addition to this, other objectives mobilise us daily.

At Storengy, we believe that diversity and inclusion are sources of performance and innovation within our teams. They are also essential values for our employees' well-being and attracting new talents. Therefore, access to employment and career management is based on equal opportunities, gender equality, and non-discrimination.

Priority to gender diversity

Professional equality between men and women is at the heart of Storengy's HR policy and is part of the company's corporate social responsibility. The agreement signed with the social partners covering the period 2020-2024 is a continuation of the actions taken since 2015.

Although the percentage of women in our workforce will have reached 21% by 2022, we are continuing our efforts and commitment by deploying proactive measures to increase the number of women in the most technical training courses. To this end, we engage in of several associations working to open up opportunities for young women in science, industry, and engineering. Our partnership with the “Elles bougent” association, for instance, has enabled us to promote technical careers in the gas industry to young women and girls, thanks to the involvement of 5 mentors and 5 relays over the past 2 years.

Women in management bodies

For the year 2022, considering those joining and leaving the company, Storengy will have: 50% women on the company's management body (Executive Committee)

Focus on the professional equality index

This commitment is also reflected in a professional equality index for which Storengy obtained a score of 90 points out of 100 in 2022, i.e. 4 points higher than the national average score for the same period:

  • Pay gap between men and women in comparable situations: 40/40 points
  • Gap in the distribution of individual increases between women and men: 20/20 points
  • Gap in the distribution of promotions between men and women: 10/15 points
  • Percentage of female employees receiving a pay rise after returning from maternity leave: 15/15 points
  • Gender parity among the ten highest earners: 5/10 points

 Zero tolerance of sexist behaviour and sexual harassment

Storengy is also committed to the fight against sexism and sexual harassment. Our “Anti-Sexism Referents” are mobilised to support all the company's employees.

A culture of inclusion

Storengy is also committed to inclusion:

  • Senior employees, to promote their employability and the intergenerational mix within the work team;
  • Disabled employees, through the implementation of a caring, responsible, and inclusive disability policy;
  • LGBT+ employees, through the implementation of awareness-raising campaigns to encourage a change in attitudes;
  • People who are far from employment by contributing to their integration into the professional world and our society.

Constant dialogue with stakeholders

Storengy is supporting national-scope and activity-based partnerships in the following fields. Our employees are actively involved, thanks in particular to:

  • Recruiting, training and assistance to about ten CSR officers at our different sites;
  • Sensitisation program for employees regarding CSR and the stakes linked to it;
  • Site employee training in stakeholder relations through a “serious game”.

In consistency with ENGIE's policy, Storengy actively strives to reduce its ecologic footprint and implement positive change for the planet.

A key actor in the energy transition

Storengy is aware of environmental challenges and implements energy transition projects which also contribute to the socio-economic development of the territories where our sites are established.

Storengy associates with other partners to lead major projects linked to the storage of hydrogen and synthetic methane, including the HyPSTER project in the Department of Ain.

Significant reduction of our environmental footprint

To achieve its objectives in terms of environmental impact, Storengy has committed itself to:

  • Participating in the ENGIE Group’s Net Zero Carbon objective by the year 2045;
  • Making energy efficiency a major management challenge: 100% of Storengy's storage sites in France are ISO 50001 certified;
  • Signing a green power procurement contract to cover the consumption of its French storage sites;
  • Replacing 50% of the diesel vehicle fleet with electric vehicles by 2024.

“For several years, our institution has built up a relationship of trust with Storengy, which has resulted in a partnership regarding a joint rehabilitation project of the Soings-en-Sologne industrial site. As the project advances, our engineering and landscaper students will be able to support the project in collaboration with all stakeholders. Furthermore, this rehabilitation project is a strong message to the citizens of our territory, as well as in terms of ecologic and energy transition, which are essential values for the INSA. As a player committed to its territory, Storengy attaches foremost importance to strong dialogue with all stakeholders and to sharing its value creation in a fair and balanced way. The actions initiated locally are intended to create positive externalities for the development of territories and communities according to the principles of fair transition.

Consultation with stakeholders

Storengy is leading a proactive and continued consultation approach with all stakeholders within the framework of projects at the sites and territories. It is essential to talk to the people who live there every day. This approach also aims to strengthen the storage sites’ territorial anchoring with events such as the “Hackathon”, which was organized in partnership with engineering students from the INSA Centre-Val-de-Loire. This event dealt with the rehabilitation of the Soings-en-Sologne storage site.

Value creation shared with territories

Every year, a socio-economic impact study is conducted to quantify and qualify the positive impact of our value shared with the territory. In this respect, Storengy acts through a collaboration with ESATs, local procurement, local partnerships and sponsoring policies and reflections about the application of circular economy models to our activities.

Storengy is implementing a partnership policy with 3 national partners, which meets 3 objectives.

  • Supporting social action: partnership with the French Red Cross,
  • Promoting the industrial sector and its trades: partnerships with Compagnons du Devoir and Télémaque,
  • Supporting biodiversity: partnership with bird protection association LPO.

Such locally developed partnerships enable Storengy to implement actions that benefit the territories.

Local procurement development policy

For many years, Storengy has been contributing to the economic development of the regions in which it operates. In 2019, we have decided to go even further by implementing a Local Procurement policy. This policy defines local procurement modalities around our sites, at the departmental level.This policy aims to encourage the utilisation of local services for our activities. It is based on close cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI), which supports Storengy all along the process. 1,747 local businesses have been identified despite an unfavourable sanitary context for economic deployment. This represents 14.8 million euros spent individually by the Storengy sites in their territories.

A contribution to the United Nations' sustainable development objectives

To best steer its CSR performance, the ENGIE Group defined 19 new CSR objectives for 2030 in February 2020. These objectives are in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Storengy's commitment is totally inspired by these goals. Thus, Storengy is directly and indirectly contributing to 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations through its CSR policy.
